The desk operates from the group's Istanbul headquarters and is intended to address the practical obstacles that most frequently stall Africa–Türkiye commercial relationships — supplier verification at a distance, banking and payment routing, and corporate structuring decisions taken in the wrong order.
Why the desk was established
Türkiye has become a significant sourcing market for African businesses across textiles, food processing, construction materials, machinery, furniture, and chemicals, supported by competitive pricing against European and Asian alternatives and shorter lead times than East Asian sourcing.
The obstacles are rarely commercial. They are procedural: verifying that a supplier is a manufacturer rather than an intermediary, establishing a payment route that both parties' banks will actually process, and selecting an operating structure appropriate to the trade volume rather than to the first order.
